It's all about Lifestyle! Four parks are planned for our county with a budget of $123M. Two of the four parks planned as part of the county’s announced plans are now under construction. Those include the Silverleaf Sportsplex and the Shearwater Community Park and Library, which both began in May.
The sportsplex is set to include five multipurpose fields with synthetic turf, three multipurpose fields with natural grass, areas designated for tailgating, ticketing and food trucks, according to a description of the project.
In addition the Field of Dreams Baseball League celebrated the start of an expansion to its field at Aberdeen Park, located at 1401 Shetland Drive. It’s a $1.5 million project that will add to the field’s existing parking lot and a new concession building.
The league is a sustainable voluntary organization that provides an ADA-certified facility where children of all ages with mental or physical disabilities can play baseball for free.
Now add the North Beach Park improvements with $2.6 million already allocated as part of the Fiscal Year 2025 budget. Work will entail expanded parking and a new design that includes a new restroom, changing area, playground equipment with shade cover and an improved walking trail.
Our county is growing and to keep up with that growth, it is pleasing to see the county spending money on quality of life improvements!
